misconfig.ai in numbers
Checks run on people's own computers, and nothing about them is sent to misconfig.ai, so it never sees a grade or a finding. What it can count is how often the command runs and how often it's downloaded from npm.

Counted when it downloads today's malware list
Since counting began in November 2026
Runs by kind of system
Shown once the command has run 50 times. So far: 6.
How these are counted
- Before each check, the command downloads today's list of known malware. The request says which version of the command is asking and the kind of system, macOS, Windows or Linux, and nothing about the setup it's about to check.
- Each download adds one to the total, to that day's count and to the count for that kind of system. Daily counts are kept for 60 days. Nothing ties a count to a person, a computer or a network.
- Runs with
--offline,MISCONFIG_OFFLINE=1orDO_NOT_TRACK=1aren't counted, and neither are runs from one network beyond 60 a minute. - npm downloads come from npm's public counts. They include installs by CI systems and mirrors, so they're higher than the number of people.
- See the privacy policy for everything misconfig.ai receives.
